Bare-chested Antoine Béraud, aged 30, is piloting a submarine. He goes into the decompression capsule. A man arrives and sticks a telex onto the capsule port-hole: Helen, his wife of six years standing, has had an accident back home in Paris. A tactful policeman, who has come to collect the coroner's report, concludes on suicide. She threw herself into the Seine, her body full of barbiturates. Helen's death throws into question Antoine's lifestyle: he feels wholly responsible for it. He refuses the suicide hypothesis and sets off in search of clues, causes. This is a psychological thriller about a man who thought he was free, living far from other people and who will have to learn how to fight in a grim, hard world. (Pyramide Distribution)
