The Hughes', a well-to-do married couple, retreat to an isolated cottage after the accidental death of their six year old daughter. Removed from their upscale suburban life they begin to take stock of the tragic events to have befallen them. After a welcoming by their neighbours they host an evening in which one man's obsession and class envy soon boils over and eventuates into terrifying home invasion. As the menacing tension escalates and hatred explodes one family will be forced into a situation of kill or be killed. No one will be the same again. (Accent Film Entertainment)

No, this isn't a film I'd enjoy. Funny Games is much better and more intense in this respect. Here, I didn't even have that feeling; I didn't have the desire to look elsewhere because the family was suffering immensely. I didn't really care what happened to them. Perhaps the death of a child or something would liven it up, but this just isn't a film about cruelty, it's just a film that thinks it's about cruelty.

Zero originality, but very solidly executed. A solid thriller that doesn’t deliver any surprises, but has a good atmosphere, cold visuals and villains who are downright nasty, especially in the first half, before their evilness shows up. They played that hidden insanity with panache. :-)
