Uniting with director Rob Reiner once again after hit film The Bucket List, Morgan Freeman plays Monte Wildhorn, a famous novelist whose struggle with alcoholism has sapped his passion for writing. Taking residence for the summer in a lakeside cabin in picturesque Belle Isle, Monte befriends the family next door - an attractive single mom (Virginia Madsen) and her young daughters - who re-invigorate his passions and help him find inspiration again. Freeman's portrayal of the crotchety Monte has him cast firmly against type, to hilarious comic effect. (Madman Entertainment)

English Morgan Freeman is a grumpy old writer who moves to the country where he meets a divorcing mother and her three daughters. The meeting, of course, affects everyone. He gets back his zest for life, he makes friends, life wisdom is delivered. It’s exactly what you can expect, a by-the-numbers feelgood crap, friendly retard included. Everyone has the right to choose a weak moment. Whereas I liked Reiner’s Flipped, this one didn’t make it for me, at all. Without Freeman’s natural charisma, it would have been unbearable. ()

English A film whose main character was really close to my heart. It did have one gaping logic hole, though. I don't believe it is possible for a person with only one functioning limb to take care of himself without help, let alone get up from the bed into a wheelchair, and get dressed in less than two minutes. The theme, writing, direction and cast were all perfect, and I was happy with how it was all handled. The film had no action or suspense, the pace was slow (but not lazy) and it made me feel calm and relaxed, without a cheap appeal to the emotions. ()
