The film Hannah and Her Brothers is a joyous and poetic story about a „prison in freedom“, set in an urban environment. The story follows two lines – one of them taking place in a cabaret and the other one in the family of the main character Martin. The characters in the cabaret live as if in an entirely different world compared to that of Martin’s crazy family. Through Martin’s eyes we meet his parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins but also people living in the streets that he meets every day. Each character of this story has their own problems and resolves them in their own peculiar ways. Martin, surrounded by the net of these complicated relationships, searches for someone with a little understanding. (official distributor synopsis)
