Five rangers, admirers of Pancho Villa, join the celebrated División del Norte. One by one they die, either in battle or in absurd situations, leaving the sole survivor Tiburcio Maya with a bitter impression of the revolutionary struggle. This is a masterful adaptation of the novel by Rafael F. Muñoz and is considered the best Mexican film of all time. The film is a critical reflection of Mexico as a nation.
