Richard Widmark stars in this mid-1950s Western adventure as Comanche Todd, an outlaw who is wrongly accused by the brutal Sheriff Bull Harper (George Matthews) of committing the murder of his three brothers. After the wagon train transporting Comanche to jail is attacked by Apaches and almost everyone on board massacred, he manages to escape and sets out to lead a wagonful of young survivors to safety through the wild and lawless Apache territory. Prioritize:
A good film, but the ending desperately lacked zest. A bigger skirmish with the redskins and any conclusion other than the one in the courtroom would have greatly benefited it. The start, however, was perfect. ()
