Plots(1)

The series chronicles the life and times of Enoch Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi), the city treasurer whose double role as politician and bootlegger makes him the city's undisputed czar at a time when illegal alcohol has opened up highly lucrative opportunities for rumrunners and distributors. In a city defined by notorious backroom politics and vicious power struggles, Nucky must contend with ambitious underlings, relentless Feds, rival gangsters -- including Arnold Rothstein, Lucky Luciano and Al Capone -- and his own appetite for women, profits, and power. Marriage and Hunting (2013) (S04E09)

English I enjoyed another excellent episode while pickles were brewing in Atlantic City, with most of the action taken care of by Chicago. I felt sorry that I had to say goodbye to the trampled Mr. Mueller, who was replaced by the tough and determined Van Alden. ()

White Horse Pike (2013) (S04E10)

English The tenth episode was great, in the previous episode, Chicago took care of the action scenes, this time it was Mr. White's turn. It is interesting that both democratic and totalitarian regimes recruit informants for their secret police in exactly the same way. ()

Havre de Grace (2013) (S04E11)

English The penultimate episode of the fourth season slightly disappointed me, as it mostly took place on a side track. For example, the storyline involving Gillian feels somewhat unnecessary to me. At least it didn't need to have so much space. ()

Season 5 (2014) (S05)

English I consider the fifth season the weakest one. Its first four episodes weren’t very convincing, but the entire second half was excellent. The flashbacks to Enoch's childhood and youth were a good idea. I would love to watch a series set in those times, too. I think what hurt the season the most was the six-year time jump, which brought unnecessary chaos to the plot and caused a sudden disappearance of certain characters. ()

Golden Days for Boys and Girls (2014) (S05E01)

English The first episode of the fifth season was so far the biggest disappointment for me. Unlike previous seasons, it lacked continuity with the previous plot, the jump was too big, whereas before even the smallest details of the destinies of peripheral characters were resolved, now Mr. Rothstein just disappears and hardly anyone mentions him, etc. Additionally, I was quite bored. ()

King of Norway (2014) (S05E05)

English So finally, the fifth season is starting to pick up, it's just a shame that it didn't come earlier. Once again, there were plenty of intrigues and even some action. Mrs. Muellerová didn't disappoint in her traditional manner, and I enjoyed the flashbacks with Enoch. ()

Devil You Know (2014) (S05E06)

English The sixth episode was the second quality piece of the fifth season for me. Secrets were revealed both joyfully and less joyfully, federal agents did not hold back with their methods against the mafia, and it is clear from the decrease in characters that the show is approaching its end. ()

Friendless Child (2014) (S05E07)

English The penultimate episode of the series heavily focused on Gillian's arrival in Atlantic City, but also on the escalation of tension between Charlie Luciano and the old guard of the mafia. In the end, it looked like releasing a pike into an aquarium. I'm curious what the last episode will bring. ()
