Harry gets himself in trouble with the police brass yet again. To get him out of town, they send him to a coastal town to do a background investigation on a murder victim. Unfortunately, his enemies follow him. That's unfortunate for his enemies, of course. Callahan also finds himself falling for a mysterious woman (Sondra Locke) who may be more than just the survivor of a gang rape a decade before. (official distributor synopsis)

English In this movie, Harry Callahan was a dozen years older than in his first film, but oddly enough, that wasn't the issue. The main flaw of the film was its inability to immerse me fully into its world. Throughout, it felt like I was merely watching moving pictures rather than being drawn into the plot. Clint Eastwood's direction didn't quite hit the mark for me. The lack of logical consistency and the presence of some entirely unnecessary characters added to the overall unconvincing nature of the film. It didn't manage to fully win me over years ago when I first watched it, and upon revisiting it today, my initial impression was only reinforced. / Lesson learned: Be cautious around carousels. 3*- ()

English Clint Eastwood still entertains as Harry Callahan, plus this time under his own direction, which has only happened once before within the series. There's the intriguing character of a woman seeking revenge, and the climax, while somewhat predictable, just fits perfectly. Harry doesn't lose any of his character, which is just as well, and yet there's still development happening. ()
