My Daughter's Secret

When 17-year-old Justine Dysert (Nina Dobrev) gets into the car one night with her 20-year-old “bad boy” boyfriend Brent, and his brother Reggie, 20s, she has no idea that her life is about to change forever. The boys stop in the alley behind the jewelry store where her mother works, put on ski masks, and go into the store to rob it, leaving Justine in the car as the look-out. Shocked and confused, Justine makes the decision to stay in the car instead of getting out and running…a decision she’ll soon come to regret. The ill-planned heist goes terribly wrong and Reggie, in a state of panic, shoots the store manager who also happens to be the owner’s son, Albert. Justine and the boys escape with several thousand dollars worth of jewelry, leaving a critically injured man on the floor. When Justine realizes they shot a close friend of Justine’s mother, Denise (Jennifer Grant), Justine is torn between telling her mother the truth — a truth that will inevitably send the boy she loves more than anything to prison — and her allegiance to her first real boyfriend. Believing what Brent and Reggie tell her — that she was as culpable in the robbery as they were and will surely go to prison too — Justine decides to keep silent.
