Plots(1)

In the 23rd Century, Earth’s natural resources have been exhausted by mankind and battle rages between the soldiers of the world’s four leading corporations: Capitol, Bauhaus, Mishima and Imperial. When an errant shell destroys a hidden seal, a new enemy, Necromutants, appear by the millions, destroying all before them. The Corporations must ban together against the mutants if they are to have any chance of survival. The Corporations’ chosen leader, Constantine (John Malkovich), plans to abandon the planet and mankind, leaving countless innocents to a hopeless, violent fate, when he is approached with news from Brother Samuel (Ron Perlman), leader of the Brotherhood, an ancient monastic order. Desperate to convince Constantine to help change the course of the future, he implores the leader to provide him with a ship and crew to pursue the prophecy of the Chronicles. English If there wasn't so much talking in voiceover in that movie and if there was a bit more action that didn't look like it was in a small room, it would probably be at least a little better, more imaginative, and more entertaining. The film wants to appear terribly epic, but it's really just about fighting mutants who don't look bad, but are not very inventive either. I expected a slightly more imaginative story, but it didn't happen. The plot is very transparent. ()

English Mutant Chronicles is a B-grade action sci-fi flick that offers an absolutely stupid and woefully unoriginal story, but thanks to the likeable cast, the decent direction and a distinctive atmosphere it passes by very quickly. ()

English Before anything, I must say that the first time I heard the title The Mutant Chronicles was in relation to the production of this film, therefore, I could not be disillusioned due to an unfaithful adaptation of the source material. And yet, I can’t go further than two stars. It’s a real shame that a premise like this, which could be the basis for some spectacular action sci-fi, is ruined by a lousy budget and an even lousier director. The cast, on the other hand, is decent, but what good is that when you are bored to death, even if they are shooting, running and fighting all the time. The problem, therefore, is not the number of action scenes, but that they feel lifeless and confusing and left me with a similar impression as Alien vs Predator 2. Disappointment overall, even though the expectations were not high. ()
