English At the time, this was an extraordinary achievement in animated film, showcasing the potential of the emerging Soviet animation school. The film stood out not only for its interesting animation but also for its story and the exotic setting of the Far East. The Soviets never mastered the art of promotion and commerce, so awareness of their often exceptional animated films never spread in comparison to the average Disney cartoons, and this film fell into obscurity. Today, with the rapid development of feature-length animated films, it may seem somewhat outdated in terms of animation and script complexity, but it remains a highly above-average work. Overall impression: 80%. ()
