After each suffers her fair share of romantic disappointments, Englishwoman Iris and L.A. woman Amanda meet on-line at a website devoted to helping people exchange houses. Each agrees to spend the Christmas holiday at the other's home... The Holiday is a famous romantic comedy by Nancy Meyers (What Women Want). The plot of the film is fairly interesting and captivating. Two women exchange houses to change their lifestyles. Both of them have problems with love. Iris (Kate Winslet) finds out that her beloved man is going to marry another woman. Amanda's (Cameron Diaz) situation isn't much better. Her man has been unfaithful to her. These women sharing quite similar problems try to escape from daily routine, and so the global net becomes the very place where they meet each other. They decide to exchange houses for a short period of time hoping that it will solve the problems and help them to get on the top of the life. Iris goes to California to Amanda's house. And Amanda moves into Iris' house which is located in a traditional English countryside. Soon they both fall in love... (official distributor synopsis)
