The freshly married sailor, József sets off for a long journey. His mother and his wife are only bound to him through his postcards and his picture hanging on the wall of the tight worker's flat in the blocks. All days are equally grey for the two women. Eight hours in the factory, in the evening watching TV. Mari, who was raised by foster parents, tries hard to meet the requirements and norms of her mother-in-law, while Ágnes receives a lover on Saturdays. Tensions break out like a volcano, when Ágnes learns that Mari is expecting a baby from her occasional lover and she has even been sacked from her well paid job as a cleaning woman. Mari aborts her pregnancy and starts to take revenge for the former vexation. Yet the two women slowly make peace in their helplessness and they wait for József at the airport together.
