Fehér János, the famous tenor has lost his voice forever. Both his accompanist and his secretary try to keep that secret from him. At a miners' feast they discover a young talent, Péter, whose voice is exactly like Fehér's used to be. Fehér is already considering suicide when Bokor and Erzsébet put Péter in his place at a recording. The singer employs Péter as his secretary and the young man learns diligently. They both fall in love with the banker's daughter, Mária. Fehér is shot in his dressing room and Mária is suspected. Péter takes the responsibility, but János turns out to have committed suicide. On Mária's side Péter becomes a great artist. (official distributor synopsis)
