A romantic comedy, Coyote Ugly is the story of one girl's wild adventures in the big city. Velvet-voiced 21-year-old Violet Stanford (Piper Perabo) heads to New York to pursue her dream of becoming a songwriter. Her aspirations are sidelined by the notoriety she receives at her 'day' job as a barmaid at Coyote Ugly, the hottest spot in town. The club features a team of sexy, enterprising women who tantalise customers and the media alike with outrageous antics. (Disney / Buena Vista)

English Coyote Ugly is one of those films that is formulaic through and through and riddled with one cliché after another, but that doesn't stop me from finding a free moment to watch it from time to time. I love returning to It to see Violet, Rachel and Cammie, who can properly turn it up behind and on the bar, overseen by the spirited Lil, who takes no shit. Add to that the likeable supporting characters of Kevin, Bill and Gloria, and it's an enjoyable half hour. Plus, who doesn't love the catchy song “Can't Fight the Moonlight” by LeAnn Rimes. A nicely made flick that, while it doesn't bring anything new to the table in terms of story and characters, is full of positive energy and always somehow entertains me. ()

English This is just a classic example of how the American dream crumbles to the point where it actually becomes reality. This is a comedy without being funny, a romance that is boring and ineffective because it's clear and predictable, despite all the twists in the story. No, even for a matinee screening, it felt too long to me. ()
