Itchy feet, grand ideas and the freedom of the open road inspire Boon Hogganbeck (Steve McQueen, The Great Escape) to 'borrow' his boss's 1905 Winton Flyer automobile and take work colleague Ned McCaslin (Oscar® nominee Rupert Crosse*) on a road trip to Memphis for a bit of fun and a whole load of mischief.  Along for the ride is 12 year-old Lucius (Mitch Vogel), destined to take it all in and keep check on his grandfather's beloved automobile. Adventure bound, the trio of 'reivers' - more commonly known as thieves - trick, con and charm their way to their destination and beyond, gambling everything and playing everyone all in the name of fun. English I've only ever read about Faulkner adaptations. The early ones had problems with censors and big stars, while the later ones became authentic treatises on the nature of the American South. So what’s The Reivers all about? It’s a wide-angle color adventure film about growing up in a time when having a car was a big deal. Starring Steve McQueen, just to make sure. ()
