At a boarding school in the lakeside town of Heiligenstadt, introverted Vincent keeps to himself and misses his mother. His only enjoyment is looking after deer at the school. Vincent sees Marianne, a girl accompanying an old man from a castle. Falling for her immediately, he visits the castle as she pleads to be saved from her forced marriage to the old man. From Peter von Mendelssohn's novel, Marianne of My Youth portrays innocent youthful love through restrained but beautiful scenes of this foggy castle and lake. This French classic should not be missed. (Busan International Film Festival)
