The Hudsucker Proxy

Scheming big shot executive Sidney J Mussburger (Paul Newman, The Verdict) sets out to deflate the value of his own company in order to purchase a majority share. He convinces the board to appoint an innocent fall-guy, Norville Barnes (Tim Robbins, The Shawshank Redemption) to step in and run the company into the ground. Under the pump to deliver the next big thing, Norville comes up with the humble hoola hoop and waits for the world to either accept his uncanny invention or hold him in the highest derision. Reporting from the sidelines is Amy Archer (Nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh, The Hateful Eight), keen to understand what makes a simple guy like Norville tick and just how he is able to throw them all for a hoop.
