A wonderful parody of 1950's American society, A King in New York, follows King Igor Shahdov's adventures in the Big Apple after a revolution in his country forces him from the throne. Shahdov becomes an accidental television celebrity, experiments with plastic surgery and is wrongly accused of being a Communist. (Transmission Films)

Charlie Chaplin wasn’t lost even in the era of sound films, which he perfectly proved with this movie. I think it's a bit underrated, maybe because it's a bit too political, but it's still great entertainment that manages to lean into society and its politics at the time. It’s funny and clever, and I liked that. ()
