In the world of Colorville, citizens are only allowed to color the objects that are assigned to their color (A purple man can only color an eggplant, a red woman can only color a stop sign). The short follows the story of Momma Brown who teaches her son to dream bigger than his color permits him too and instills in him self-belief in a world that is designed for him to fail. This short is a love letter to parents, particularly immigrant parents, who not only have to raise a child through the vicissitudes of life but also have to deal with a system that is designed for them to fail. As an immigrant myself who hopes to one day have a family, this short was my way of processing my fears while also admiring those that have done so before me.
