Anarchic and hilarious thriller stars Gerard Depardieu as an unemployed death-obsessed drifter drawn into an absurd murder plot featuring a shady characters like his wife's killer, a corrupt police chief and a young beauty who's afraid of the dark and who is definitely not what she seems. And above all a missing knife that turns up in a subway rider's belly. Bleak and ironic black comedy about solitude and dishumanization of the modern world directed by Bertrand Blier reminds the surrealistic dreamscapes of Luis Bunuel's final films and in 1980 it won César Award for Best Screenplay.
