A Mild Touch of Cancer

When the New Zealand comedian David Downs is diagnosed with late stage cancer, he accepts it in his own manner—with humor. In his videos, David documents his long days of hospitalizations and chemotherapy, which he tries to lighten with costume parties. He also shares his experience through a blog. Thanks to that he is offered to undergo therapy in the USA, using CAR T-lymphocytes, which reverses the initial terminal diagnosis. At the same time, he faces the issue of its expense and unavailability to other New Zealand cancer patients, whom David meets during his treatment and decides to help. (Academia Film Olomouc)
