English A financial flop, quite incomprehensibly to me. After all, this western has everything: a compelling story, likeable brave men and beautiful women, gorgeous locations, vicious villains, dramatic gunfights, warm horses and an angry herd of oxen. The cast is outstanding, full of stars of the time and of the future. The youthful "Ultra Fit and Slim" Kevin Costner as the likeable and trigger-happy gunslinger with a permanent smile on his face, Brian Dennehy fits the role of the sheriff like a glove. John Cleese makes a surprise appearance at the beginning as a stern sheriff. Otherwise, the few naive screenwriting moments can be overlooked, because Kasdan's excursion into the western genre was a very good. ()

English I certainly can't say I didn't have fun, but I can't say Silverado amazed me, either. It's an enjoyable western with everything fans of the genre expect from such a film. By that I mean great actors who don't hesitate to shoot and a stony look that is a thing of beauty, a solid script full of gunfights and unadulterated western atmosphere and of course a pretty good soundtrack, which has become an unwritten rule of the Wild West. I've seen a few better westerns, but few as well cast and not boring as this one. 75% ()
