Biography

Jaime Ruiz Ibáñez graduated from the CUEC-UNAM film school (1985-91). He specialized in screenwriting, film editing and direction. He made his first short film Don Chico que vuela (1988), which won an Ariel Award in 1990 for Best Fiction Short Film. He first worked as assistant director in documentary films, and as director and editor in various television programs. He is an independent producer and director of short films and videos, which have participated in many festivals and have won awards in Huesca, Valdivia, Biarritz, Los Angeles, Palm Springs and Guanajuato, among others. La mitad del mundo (2009) is his first feature film.
