Filmmaker Anna Shishova studied Russian history before graduating with a degree in documentary filmmaking from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography in Moscow. Her short documentary film Katya (2013) won several awards, including the Jury Award at Queens World Film Festival. After shooting On the Edge (2014), she collaborated with ARTE on several productions, including Town of Glory (2019). Her debut feature-length documentary film The New Greatness Case had its world premiere at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival.
