Sergey Bukovsky was born in 1960. He studied Directing in Film Department of the Karpenko-Kary State University of Theatrical Arts in Kyiv. After serving in the army, he worked at the Ukrainian Documentary Film Studio for more than a decade. During his 35-year film career, he has made around 40 films, some of which have won prestigious awards. Now Sergey Bukovsky is an independent film director and a lecturer at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. In 2014 he created the Sergey Bukovsky film programme for young filmmakers.
